On October 31, 2023, Hamas' military wing, the 'Izz al-Din Al-Qassam Brigades, released two short videos showing the brigade's use of the Al-'Asef torpedo.
According to Hamas' official Telegram channel, this is an exclusive documentation of Hamas' launch of the self-made guided Al-'Asef torpedo, which was first used during the ongoing war between the Palestinian terror group and Israel.
The first video, thirty-six second long, features four masked and armed Al-Qassam fighters from the brigade's "Navy Seals," launching an Al-'Asef torpedo into the sea, along with a quote from Quran 10:22: "The ships are overcome by a gale wind."[1]
The second video, running one minute and six seconds, features several people in civilian clothing preparing the torpedo for launching in a workshop located on the seashore. The video also shows a man programming the missiles, followed by four operatives carrying it to the sea and launching it. The channel added that the video documents the launching of several Al-'Asef torpedoes towards several hostile naval targets off the coast of the Gaza Strip.[2]
