Iran-Backed Islamic Resistance In Iraq Claims Drone Attack Against Israel's Ben Gurion Airport

March 20, 2024

On March 12, 2024, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an Iran-backed joint operations group of Iraqi militias, published a statement on Telegram claiming a March 11 drone attack against the Ben Gurion International Airport in central Israel, the country's main civilian airport.

Dated March 11, the statement reads: "This evening...  March 11, 2024, mujahideen of the Islamic Resistance in Iraq attacked the Ben Gurion airport deep inside the usurping entity with a drone. We stress that we will continue to crush the enemies' strongholds, in continuation of the second phase of the operations against the occupation, support of our people in Gaza, and response to the Zionist massacres against defenseless Palestinian civilians."

A 30-second video was attached, showing the launch of the drone at sunset.

The event was not reported in Israeli media, and the airport is operational as usual.
