On April 20, 2023 on the Al-Qaeda-operated Rocket.Chat server, the media arm of Al-Qaeda's Somali affiliate, Al-Shabab, claimed its fighters seriously wounded a Somali officer in an attack outside a suburb of the capital Mogadishu. The channel claimed the officer was working with U.S. intelligence, especially the U.S. drone programs.
