In early December 2024, Islamic State (ISIS) supporters reported a major crackdown on jihadi channels on Telegram. Channels that provide official news by the organization, as well as prominent supporter channels, were unavailable. A few days later, ISIS's official disseminators began to distribute and share official media on an alternative encrypted platform. As of December 23, 2024, all ISIS official accounts on encrypted servers and Facebook were active and feature up-to-date releases.
