On January 13, 2023 the Telegram channel of a hacking group affiliated with Iran-backed militias in Iraq published a post reporting that an anonymous Twitter user successfully accessed dozens of Twitter accounts belonging to media figures and politicians, using his personal banking data in the process. The channel said he downloaded all the data in the accounts and plans to sell it online for a large sum.
