On July 31, 2016, A'maq, a news agency affiliated with the Islamic State (ISIS), released a video that it claimed showed a commander in the New Syrian Army (NSA), a U.S.-funded military faction fighting against ISIS in Syria, explaining to a group of fighters how to communicate coordinates to U.S. aircraft. In the video, which appears to have been seized from the NSA, the commander displayed a phone application and instructed his fighters how to deliver the coordinates of their own location, as well as of enemy positions, to the Operations Room and to the aircraft.
