On October 10, 2016, the Islamic State (ISIS) announced the passing of Abu Muhammad Al-Furqan, whom it described as the Head of its Central Media Diwan (Department).
ISIS did not note the circumstances surrounding Al-Furqan's death, merely stating that he was "martyred." ISIS also threatened the "nation of the Cross" and its allies with retaliation for his death.
