Syria-Based Jihadi Cleric Issues Fatwa Saying FaceApp Application Is Haram

On July 17, 2019, Syria-based Saudi cleric Abdallah Al-Muhaysini issued a fatwa saying that the FaceApp phone application is haram ("forbidden") because, according to him, the application changes a person's facial features from the way that Allah created them.
