On January 25, 2023, a Telegram channel which supports Iran-backed militias in Iraq published a poster depicting an Iranian-made Ababil drone. The poster read in Arabic: "The flock of Ababil birds is not a matter of the past. Today, they have developed, thanks to the people of the resistance. In the Quran, "ababil" refers to miraculous birds that protected the city of Mecca.
