On November 9, 2023, a Syrian opposition-affiliated website reported that Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) found a drone while sweeping the area west of Deir Al-Zour, after a landmine detonated on a civilian vehicle nearby. According to a pro-regime outlet, the drone was an undetonated suicide drone which was likely on its way to strike a U.S. base in the region before falling due to technical failure.
