Yemen's Houthis Launch Anti-U.S. Influence Campaign On X Providing Users With Hundreds Of Premade Posts To Share On The Platform

December 10, 2024

Yemen's Ansar Allah Houthi Movement launched an anti-U.S. malign influence campaign on X after the U.S. vetoed a Gaza ceasefire resolution at the UN Security Council in late November 2024.

On December 2, 2024, at 9:00 pm Sana'a time, the Houthis launched a malign influence campaign on X under the hashtags #TerroristUSA. As of December 3, the hashtags were trending, with thousands of English- and Arabic-language posts on X denigrating the United States.

A poster advertising the campaign was shared on Telegram prior to its launch. It depicted a U.S. diplomat voting at the UN Security Council with blood on his hands, as well as President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu embracing each other. The campaign was launched after the United States vetoed a November Gaza ceasefire resolution at the UN Security Council.

The poster's text read: "The source of terrorism and its sponsor, which lives on blood and wars and claims in the media to be concerned about peace, but rejects its achievement in reality, is America and others, the leader of the aggression against Gaza. Participate in a Tweet Campaign under the hashtags."
