French identitarian movements have been raising their level of activism in the last few years. In almost every region of France, ethnic groups are rallying around their specific traditions and languages to claim their identity, in opposition to the more recent, all-encompassing French identity and culture, accused of importing migrants and of repressing their original ethnic identity. One Breton group has been particularly vocal on the social media and through its campaigns, conducting repeated flyer and poster campaigns calling on Bretons to join them.
