November 8, 2024

On the evening of November 7, 2024, fans of Israeli soccer team Maccabi Tel Aviv were attacked by groups of Ajax fans and pro-Palestinian groups throughout the city of Amsterdam. Israeli individuals were beaten and robbed, and at least one fan was severely hurt in a hit-and-run car ramming. Five Israelis were hospitalized. Following the attacks, 62 people were arrested.

Neo-Nazis and white supremacists across Europe and North America reacted on platforms including X, Gab, Telegram, and more, celebrating the attacks and referring to them as a "pogrom" targeting Jews. Some users called for more widespread attacks against Jewish populations, while others claimed that the violence marked the start of a wider expulsion of Jews from the Netherlands. Meanwhile, still other users claimed that the violence was perpetrated primarily by Amsterdam's Moroccan population, and that it represented the "Islamization" of the city and the replacement of the White Dutch population. The DTTM will continue to monitor reactions to the attack and subsequent arrests in the coming days.

The following report will highlight the reactions of neo-Nazi and white supremacist extremists to the attacks.
