On December 4, 2024, the mainstream press reported on the arrest of 12 people who were planning to carry out attacks against Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and an economist from the World Economic Forum. The Italian Anti-Mafia Directorate conducted a major operation coordinated by the Bologna Prosecutor's Office to dismantle a neo-Nazi network called “Werwolf Division.” Twelve people were arrested (five in Bologna alone) and 25 house searches carried out in various cities.

The “Werwolf Division” was reportedly well structured, with clear ideological references to Nazism and white supremacy. Bladed weapons and firearms were found, as well as Nazi and fascist relics and busts.

There are 25 suspects in total, aged between 19 and 76. The arrests and searches involve the cities of Bologna, Bari, Brindisi, Lecco, Milan, Monza Brianza, Modena, Palermo, Pesaro Urbino, Pescara, Pordenone, Ravenna, Rome, Teramo, Trieste, Vercelli and Vicenza.

A few days after the arrest, an Italian neo-Nazi channel shared a collage of screenshots of news headlines mentioning the arrest of 12 neo-Nazis from the "Werwolf Division" group in Italy. The full report provides details.
