Neo-Nazis And White Supremacists Celebrate Polish Member of Parliament On Gab, Telegram, And X For Extinguishing Menorah At Polish Parliament's Hannukah Event, Which He Described As "Satanic"

On December 12, 2023, far-right Polish lawmaker Grzegorz Braun of the Confederation Party used a fire extinguisher to put out the candles of a menorah during a Hannukah celebration in the Polish parliament that included members of the Jewish community. Following the event, Braun took to the podium to describe Hannukah as "satanic" and said he was restoring "normality." When asked if he was ashamed of his actions, Braun replied: "Those who take part in acts of satanic worship should be ashamed."

Polish Member Of Parliament Braun Is Described As A Hero By Neo-Nazi And White Supremacist Leaders

On Telegram, a neo-Nazi account posted, on December 12, an AI-generated image of the alt-right meme Pepe the Frog with a fire extinguisher standing next to a lit menorah, in a clear reference to the actions of the Member of Parliament, Gzegorz Braun.

A neo-Nazi forwarded a post on his Telegram channel on December 12. The message displayed video footage of Braun extinguishing the menorah. The post read, "BASED BRAUN."

Another neo-Nazi leader also reacted to MP Braun's actions via his Telegram channel. After posting video of the incident on his channel on December 12, he commented: "I don’t know this man, he may be a turd, but for that I want to shake his hand lollll." In a second post, they commented, "The way he blasts the bitch at the end hahaha mannnnnn... amazing entertainment."

Gab And X Users Celebrate MP Braun

A Polish nationalist account on Gab stated, on December 13, that far-right supporters of MP Braun had raised over 150,000 Polish zlotys, or $30,000 US dollars in support of his actions, but that the transfer of funds was blocked by the owner of the site. The post reads: "Grzegorz Braun accumulated 150 thousand zlotys from supporters (around 30 k USD), but it was blocked by the owner of the site, which is known for being influenced by (((outer))) influences :)."

Another Polish nationalist account also reposted an AI generated meme of a LEGO set titled, “Braun.” The set displays an image of a LEGO firefighter putting out the flames of a menorah in a parliamentary chamber.
