The Acca Larentia massacre refers to the killing of two fascist youths—Franco Bigonzetti and Francesco Ciavatta—and the mortal injuring of nineteen-year-old Stefano Recchioni, in Rome on January 7, 1978. Members of militant far-left groups were charged but later acquitted, and the culprits never identified. The Italian fascist movement CasaPound has been organizing an annual January 7 ceremony to commemorate the killings. In January 2024, it was reported that hundreds of fascists gathered at the former headquarters of the fascist Italian Social Movement (“Movimento Sociale Italiano,”MSI) for this purpose. Videos posted by CasaPound on its website and social media, as well as by affiliated groups, show rows of men giving the Roman/Nazi salute while repeating several times in Italian, "For all the fallen comrades, here I am!"
Fascist, neo-Nazi and white supremacist groups from outside Italy, including France, Portugal and Spain, also shared posts showing the ceremony on Instagram and Telegram. The report provides a sample.
