On May 1, 2024, senior members of Yemen's Ansar Allah (the Houthis) Movement posted commentary accusing the United States of attempting to draw Yemen's neighbors into a direct war on Yemen, and warning Saudi Arabia and the UAE to learn the lesson from the decade-long war on Yemen.

The Houthis' Supreme Political Council Secretary Yasser Al-Houri warned the U.S. that any hostile escalation against the security and stability of Yemen "will have repercussions beyond Yemen's borders." He noted that his warning to the U.S. followed the directives of Houthi leader Abdulmalik Al-Houthi to "maintain the equation" imposed by Yemeni forces on the ground during the battle of the Red Sea, and amid resistance of the American and British "aggression."

Al-Houri threatened that if this warning were not taken seriously, "the response will be harsh and unexpected," especially since the armed forces continue to monitor all hostile, suspicious preparations, and movements in the area.

He further argued that in the context of its defense of Israel, the U.S. seeks to destabilize the security and stability in the region and force surrounding countries to become a part of the conflict. Finally, he warned Saudi Arabia and her neighbors not to be drawn in, and not to cave to U.S. demands.[1]

Houthi Political Bureau member Ali Al-Qahoum shared a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account calling for the advancement of a peace agreement between Yemen and Saudi Arabia and the UAE, and not to cave to American, British, or Israeli pressure.

He warned that caving to the pressure of these western countries "would be very costly and would bring great tragedy and destructive and harsh responses against any move made from any base or from the territory of the countries of the region." He added that any "American, British, and Israeli military aggression" would lead to the expansion of the war and the inclusion of "strategic and critical targets deep [in enemy territory], and in areas that are economically significant."

He continued: "Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the consequences and hostile trends and learn the lessons of the past nine-year-long aggression. The equations have changed, and the balance of power has changed with them."[2]

Houthi Political Bureau and Shura Council member Hezam Al-Asad shared a post on his X account warning the U.S. against "military escalation against the Yemeni people." He threatened that an escalation would give the Houthi armed forces a "golden opportunity" to avenge the blood of Yemenis killed, and redress the destruction and suffering caused by the "aggression" on Yemen over the past decade.

"By Allah's permission and help, the world will watch action movies, as realistic as [they] can be," he threatened.[3]
