On October 15, 2024, the official website of the Yemen-based Ansar Allah (Houthi) movement featured an article listing figures about the group's "General Mobilization" project, said to reflect the Yemeni people's "jihadi spirit" and determination to participate actively in the war against Israel. The "General Mobilization" chief officer claims 500,000 Yemenis are prepared for a ground battle with Israel.

"Unprecedented Popular Mobilization To Participate Effectively In The Battle Of The Promised Conquest And Holy Jihad"

Unnamed throughout the article, the General Mobilization Officer stated that historically, the Yemeni people have often supported peoples' "struggle" for independence, including in Palestine, the "most prominent symbol" of all Arab and Muslim causes.

"After October 7, 2023, the Yemeni arena attracted massive crowds of Yemenis of every stripe, to express rejection of the Zionist-American aggression against the Palestinian people, and to denounce the crimes of genocide and brutality committed by the Zionist machine in Gaza," he said.

The official claimed that the popular response happened together with the Houthi military operations in support of the Palestinian factions, and grew into "unprecedented" mobilization activities and mass marches, where Yemenis expressed extreme readiness to participate effectively in the "Battle of the Promised Conquest and Holy Jihad."

The official also credited Houthi Leader Abd Al-Malik Badr Al-Din Al-Houthi for the Yemeni people's "unparalleled" support of Gaza, noting that everyone in Yemen mobilized officially, popularly, and militarily, in a way that exhibited a "distinguished jihadi spirit" through various events and activities held in various governorates.

General Mobilization Activities By The Numbers: 746,972 Civilian and 2,866 Military Events

Providing figures to illustrate the scope of mobilization over one year, the official stated there were 746,972 popular activities, including marches, demonstrations, events, seminars, and student rallies in schools and colleges.

The military mobilization activities recorded 2,866 military events, including military displays, drills, and processions, with a total number of 508,353 recruits enrolling in military courses.

He continued: "The capital and the free governorates have turned into arenas of a broad popular movement, where 9,497 parades were organized, 50,430 miscellaneous events, 170,165 popular and community rallies, 216,087 student rallies in universities and schools, 246,708 seminars, and 53,668 nighttime gatherings." He also emphasized the "distinguished" participation of women in supporting the Palestinian people, claiming that women held 543 central rallies, 2,469 marches, and 4,573 seminars, and assembled 1,770 aid convoys to support Palestinians.

General Mobilization Reflects Readiness To Face Upcoming Challenges

The Houthi official stressed that the mobilization movement continues to grow with great momentum, due to the Yemeni people's faith and Leader Al-Houthi's call to jihad and the battle of the "Promised Conquest and Holy Jihad," with a firm belief in the divine promise of the "elimination" of Israel.

He claimed that the significant turnout for the General Mobilization's military courses reflects the high readiness to face upcoming challenges, and embodies the Yemeni people's zeal and rejection of "colonialism" and "subjugation," noting that the "Yemeni's support for the just Palestinian cause, with a popular, official, and military movement is an example to be followed throughout the Islamic world."
