On October 30, 2023, Hay'at Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS), an Islamist political and armed organization that backs the Syrian Salvation Government in Idlib, announced through its Ministry of Endowment and Guidance an "interactive symposium" as part of the "Gaza And Idlib -- One Wound" campaign.[1]

The symposium was attended by Sheikh Dr. Nawaf Takruri, who heads the Turkey-based Council of Palestinian Scholars, Dr. Anas 'Ayrout from the Idlib-based Supreme Council for Issuing Fatwas, and by HTS-backed Minister Husam Hajj Husayn.

According to a poster released by the Ministry, the symposium was set up to discuss various means of showing "solidarity with Gaza," including fundraising from Idlib residents to assist the residents of Gaza.

The event was livestreamed on the Ministry's Facebook page[2], X[3], and Telegram[4] accounts.

A pro-HTS Telegram channel, Al-Dalati, shared a video showing people in Idlib making cash donations to help Gazans. The channel said the donations are part of the above-mentioned campaign.[5]
