On January 15, 2025, Mohammed Abdulsalam, a spokesman of the Iran-backed Yemeni Ansar Allah Movement (Houthis) commented on the ceasefire agreement that was announced today between Hamas and Israel.[1]
In his remarks, which were circulated on Telegram channels linked to the group, he praised the "legendary and historic" steadfastness of Gazans in the face of the "fiercest and most ferocious Israeli aggression" targeting the oppressed Palestinian people.
He further praised Hamas leadership, including its slain top leaders, saying their sacrifices and determination forced Israel to accept the ceasefire.
"We and all the free people of the world also appreciate the great sacrifices of the Palestinian resistance in Gaza and the martyrdom of a number of its great leaders, including the martyr leader Ismail Haniyeh and the martyr leader Yahya Sinwar and others, without [their martyrdom] weakening [Gaza's] resolve, as it continued with all its strength and bravery to confront the enemy until [the enemy] was forced to accept a ceasefire."
"We Salute Hizbullah And The Iraqi Resistance"
The spokesman also praised Lebanese Hizbullah, saying that "the Islamic Resistance Front in Lebanon, performed well in fighting and sacrificing and offered the most precious thing it had, to redeem Gaza, Palestine and Jerusalem." He also mentioned slain Hizbullah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, lauding his martyrdom.
Further, he praised "the Islamic Resistance in Iraq for its prominent and effective role in the support battle."
"We Salute The Houthis"
Speaking on the Houthis' support of Hamas, he added: "We in Yemen thank Allah Almighty for enabling our dear people and armed forces to bear this responsibility by supporting Gaza with our weekly demonstrations with millions [of participants] and with effective and influential military operations, from the beginning of the [October 7 Al-Aqsa] flood until the ceasefire was declared in Gaza.
"Despite the continued siege on our country and the wounds our people are suffering as a result of the previous years of aggression, and the difficult economic conditions, this did not dampen our resolve, but rather motivated and encouraged us to assume the responsibility of supporting Gaza – which is a religious and humanitarian responsibility for which the entire [Islamic] nation is responsible.
"Yemen's entry into the battle to support Gaza was not due to an excess of power or a [done as a] show of force, but rather [it stemmed] from a difficult reality. Then, the Israeli invasion of Gaza left no [choice] for our dear people, who are imbued with the spirit of faith, but to participate and support, fulfilling their responsibility towards an oppressed people who are being subjected to genocidal massacres before the eyes and ears of the entire world."
Concluding, Abdulsalam stressed that there will be no real peace for the region without the removal of Israel.
"With this battle reaching its conclusion with the declaration of a ceasefire in Gaza, the Palestinian cause was and will remain the first cause for which the nation must assume responsibility, considering the Zionist enemy entity [is] dangerous for everyone, and its continued occupation of Palestine represents a threat to the security and stability of the region. There will be no real peace for the region except with the disappearance of this temporary [Israeli] entity, [which was] planted [here] by force by a Western-American power that provides it with the means to survive, at the expense of the Palestinian people and the peoples of the region."
