Issue 445 of the Islamic State (ISIS) weekly Al-Naba' magazine, released on May 30, 2024,[1] includes an "exclusive" article about the recent activities of the Islamic State Mozambique Province (ISMP) in the country's northern Cabo Delgado Province, describing activities carried out there that ISMP had not previously reported.

An "exclusive source" in the ISIS affiliate told Al-Naba' that on May 18, "soldiers of the caliphate" killed a Mozambican soldier they had captured in a May 10 raid on the city of Macomia, which they controlled for a day before withdrawing.[2] An "exclusive" photo showing the execution of the "crusader soldier" was included.

The article also reported that on May 26, ISMP fighters "met with Muslims" inhabiting Darumba village in Macomia District, and delivered a sermon discussing "some topics which are indispensable to a Muslim in his life." They also offered "medical assistance and necessary medications" to some of the Muslim villagers. "Exclusive" photos document the sermon and provision of medical care. All fighters and locals who are not masked appear in the photos with their faces digitally blurred.

ISIS previously reported on several visits ISMP fighters have made to Muslim villages in Cabo Delgado's Quissanga and Mocímboa da Praia districts since mid-April, where they preached to the villagers and prayed with them. These meetings, according to Al-Naba', are part of ISMP's "continuous da'wah [preaching] efforts," which aim to "teach the Muslims matters of their religion and remove false ideas and mistaken concepts which the enemies of Islam disseminate among them."[3]
