Islamic State Mozambique Province Releases Photos Showing Operatives Taking Down Crosses, Torching Church In Christian Village In Nampula

On May 1, 2024, the Islamic State (ISIS) Mozambique Province published a photoset documenting an attack on the Christian village of Nassua, in the Erati district of Mozambique's Nampula province.[1]

Some of the photos show the group's operatives walking in the village with Islamic State (ISIS) flags. Others show them taking down a cross affixed to what may be a church. Another photo shows them breaking a cross placed in the ground. Further photos show fires set by operatives in small buildings and the corpse of one villager.
