On May 23, 2024, several Telegram channels affiliated with Hizbullah and with the Iran-backed militias in Iraq reported on a "large and important meeting" held one day earlier in Tehran on the periphery of the funeral of Iranian President Raisi and the other officials who were killed with him in the May 19 helicopter crash.[1] According to the reports, the meeting was attended by IRGC commander Maj. Gen. Hossein Salami, Qods Force chief Brig. Gen. Esmail Qaani and senior officials of various resistance factions, and the participants stressed that "the jihad will continue until the resistance in Gaza achieves a complete victory" with the help of all the resistance factions in the region.
The following are details from some of these reports:
The Sabereen News Telegram channel, which is affiliated with Iran-backed militias in Iraq, reported that, apart from Salami and Qaani, the meeting was attended by Houthi spokesman Muhammad Abd Al-Salam, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, Hizbullah deputy leader Na'im Qassem, and representatives of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the Iraqi resistance and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. It dealt with the political, military and social conditions in the Gaza Strip and with the role of the resistance axis in the Al-Aqsa Flood war, and the participants stated that "the jihad will continue until the resistance in Gaza achieves a complete victory with the participation of all the resistance factions in the region."[2]
The Unit 10,000 Telegram channel, which is also affiliated with Iran-backed militias in Iraq, posted pictures from the meeting:[3]
