On July 13, 2024, former U.S. president Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania. The attempted assassination drew reactions from several channels affiliated with Iran-backed militias.

"America Will Never Be Safe Again"

On July 14, 2024, the Iran-backed Iraqi Sayyid Al-Shuhada Brigades militia reacted to Trump's assassination attempt by sharing a poster on its Telegram channel. The publication featured an image of slain Deputy Commander of the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis.

Next to Al-Muhandis, who was killed in a U.S. airstrike ordered by President Trump near Baghdad International Airport on January 3, 2020, the poster displayed two photos of Trump on the podium covered in blood after the assassination attempt.

The text on poster threatened the U.S. with a message that reads: "America will never be safe again."

The poster was stamped on the bottom left with "Taff [Name of Kerbela battle in which Imam Hussein was killed] and Toufan [Aqsa Flood]," the annual slogan the Sayyid Al-Shuhada Brigades picked on July 6, for the months of Muharram and Safar 1446 Hijri calendar (equivalent to July 7 until September 3, 2024).

The poster falls in line with retaliatory rhetoric directed at President Trump's administration for ordering the killing of IRGC commander Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis in the airstrike commanded by Trump in 2020.

Capitol Hill Building

On July 17, 2024, Telegram channels supporting Iran-backed militia in Iraq, Sabereen News and Fatemiyoun Cyper Team, shared a poster showing slain senior Commander in Iran-backed Iraqi Hizbullah Brigades, Abu Baqer Al-Sa'idi.

Against the backdrop of the image of Al-Sa'idi, who was killed in another U.S. airstrike on February 7, 2024, the poster depicted an explosion on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.

The poster appears to suggest carrying out an attack on U.S. soil to avenge Al-Sa'idi.
