On July 15, 2024, a website linked to the Afghan Taliban intelligence agency published a short comment piece, condemning the Israeli attacks in Khan Younis city and lamenting: "While millions of young [Muslims] are drowning in happiness and are unaware, Gaza is drowning in mourning..."

The Pashtu-language piece, titled "Get Informed About The Situation In Gaza," was published by Al-Mirsad, a multi-lingual group of websites connected to the General Directorate of Intelligence (GDI), the spy agency of the Taliban government of Afghanistan.

Following is the text of the comment piece:

"Yesterday, the planes and tanks of the Jewish army bombarded the tents of refugees in the 'Mawasi' area of Khan Younis city, resulting in the martyrdom of 71 people and injuring nearly 300.

"The crimes of the Israeli regime continue despite the presence of over two billion Muslims worldwide. These Muslims have military and intelligence power, but they cannot defend the honor of Muslims against a few million Jews.

"Today, Gaza is a great tragedy, which will remain a scar on the forehead of the Muslim governments throughout history. Gaza is burning today. While millions of [Muslim] youths are drowning in happiness and are unaware, Gaza is drowning in mourning...

"Gaza stood against the oppressors and, Allah willing, victory will be theirs. Gaza paved the way for the pride and honor of the Islamic Ummah, and if it fails, then the two billion Ummah has actually failed."
