On August 1, 2024, Uwwar Al-Haqq, a pro-Islamic State (ISIS) media outlet, released a poster criticizing Muslims for eulogizing slain Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.
The outlet shared a post on Telegram, which featured screenshots of various online statements and posts expressing condolences for Haniyeh's death. The screenshots were taken from the accounts of various Salafi-jihadi clerics, Hay'at Tahrir Al-Sham, and Al Jazeera news updates reporting on the reactions of Iran and Iran-backed militias to Haniyeh's death.
The post's text, which was attributed to an author by the name of "The Grandson of Hussayn," disparaged such eulogies, writing: "Every lowlife and scumbag has expressed condolences for the slaughter of Ismail Haniyeh, including the Sahawat[1] of Syria, Yemen's Houthis, the Rafidites[2] of Lebanon, the Magians of Iran, and the Grandsons of Abu Lu'lu'a[3] in Iraq."
The text lamented that "the blasphemers and posers raced to offer condolences to the dog of the Magians, Ismail Haniyeh," while noting that "It is in their nature to race on the tracks of misguidance."
The post concluded with prayers for Allah to strike such people down, to scatter them, and to divide them against themselves. "Oh Allah, strike the oppressors down with oppressors, and lead us away from them peacefully," it ended.
