A Telegram bot supportive of the Islamic State (ISIS) released a poster arguing that foreign fighters in Syria were betrayed by the leader of Hay'at Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS).
On January 28, 2025, the pro-ISIS bot on Telegram shared a poster designed to recruit foreign fighters in HTS.[1] The Arabic-language poster featured a message addressed to foreign fighters, as well as depictions of HTS leader Ahmad Al-Shara'a (aka Abu Mohammed Al-Joulani), Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot, among the rubble of Syria.
The poster's text read: "Oh you foreign fighters, who have sacrificed yourselves and left your families, remember that you came to Syria to implement the Sharia of Allah, but Al-Jolani betrayed you and lied to you. Once he took hold of the reins of power, he bared his fangs and you learned his true nature. He did not strive for anything but power, as did those before him, so he sold you to his masters, the Turks and the Europeans, in order to sit on his new throne, calling for democracy and a violence constitution. Beware, beware of apostasy, for jihad is either on the path of Allah or on the path of tyrants."
