MEMRI subscribers often ask us how they can get more involved, support our work, and help share our research with their friends and colleagues. One way to do this is through MEMRI's E-Tribute Cards. Following up on our successful campaign from last year, we are pleased to announce an expanded and dynamic selection of E-TRIBUTE Cards for this holiday season.
E-TRIBUTES ARE AN INNOVATIVE WAY TO SHARE AWARENESS ABOUT IMPORTANT PROJECTS WHILE DONATING TO MEMRI
An E-TRIBUTE is a great way to send a personalized greeting via email, instead of a card in the mail; it's environmentally friendly, there is no shipping charge, and the impact is maximal. Your E-TRIBUTE Card will be delivered with a link to a specially designed webpage where the recipient will find video and accompanying MEMRI information highlighting the project to which you have donated in their honor.
Why Send An E-TRIBUTE As A Gift?
With an E-Tribute, your college student can learn more about the Middle East; your soldier in Iraq or Afghanistan can directly benefit from MEMRI material you choose especially for them; your friend or relative who is concerned about the Iran threat can learn more about the issue; you can increase others' awareness of Palestinian incitement and help to stop it.
MEMRI is committed to bringing reformists in the Arab and Muslim world to the attention of the West, exposing antisemitism in the Middle East's media, exposing child indoctrination, researching Islamist ideology and organizations that threaten the West, monitoring and translating the Urdu and Pashtu media, promoting a greater understanding and awareness of the Middle East media, and assisting those who are fighting terrorism. You can help increase awareness and knowledge on a personal level with MEMRI E-Tributes.
Now, YOU can help MEMRI broaden its impact by using MEMRI's E-TRIBUTE Card platform.
YOU CAN CHOOSE TO DIRECT YOUR DONATION TOWARD ANY OF MEMRI'S RESEARCH PROJECTS USING OUR E-TRIBUTE CARD PLATFORM – JUST IN TIME FOR THE HOLIDAYS.
NEW E-TRIBUTE CARDS AVAILABLE THIS HOLIDAY SEASON
The following are the MEMRI projects that you can support by sending one of our new E-TRIBUTE cards: The Urdu-Pashtu Media Project, Monitoring the Iranian Threat, Supporting Liberals and Reformists in the Middle East, Stopping Palestinian Child Indoctrination, and the Antisemitism Documentation Project.
PROVIDE OUR TROOPS IN AFGHANISTAN WITH THE INFORMATION THEY NEED: The past year has been the deadliest for U.S. troops in Afghanistan; thus, it is more important than ever to know what is being said in that region's media. MEMRI's Urdu-Pashtu Media Project tracks evolving security threats in Afghanistan-Pakistan, helping our troops in the field and decision-makers in Washington, DC. Monitoring a wide range of websites, magazines, newspapers, television channels, and pamphlets, the project translates materials from the Urdu, Pashtu, Dari, and Hindi languages, and brings security threats and issues of cultural freedom to the attention of journalists, politicians, think tanks, U.S. troops, and government policymakers in the West. The shortage of U.S. translators has left Western media and governments desperate to know about events and trends in this region, which is so critical to Western security and interests. That is why material from MEMRI’s Urdu-Pashtu Media Project is in greater demand now than ever before.
PROVIDE COLLEGE STUDENTS, MILITARY FAMILIES, AND CONCERNED CITIZENS WITH INFORMATION ON JIHADIST PLOTS: Give the gift of a subscription to MEMRI's Jihad and Terrorism Threat Monitor Weekly Digest – a summary of the week's most important news items and relevant material from jihadist websites, including exclusive analyses and translations from MEMRI's Jihad and Terrorism Threat Monitor Project Website. Note: The Digest is not a regular MEMRI project; this E-TRIBUTE card notifies the recipient that an annual subscription has been purchased for them. PROVIDE THE U.S. AND THE WEST WITH INFORMATION ON IRAN'S NUCLEAR PROJECT: MEMRI has produced hundreds of hours of translations and analyses from Iran's most important media outlets and websites, including over 40 newspapers and more than 16 TV channels. In light of the serious threat that Iran, under its current leadership, now poses to the United States and the international community, there is a vital need to increase the scope of the monitoring and translation of primary-source materials from the Iranian media. Just days ago, on November 30, Iran's nuclear chief said that the United Nations' scrutiny has pushed Iran into announcing their plans to build 10 new uranium enrichment facilities. This project also translates from valuable open-source Farsi material that no one else is translating, including Iranian media websites that focus on Iranian military capabilities, speeches and statements by leading military and political figures, currents in the regime’s religious establishment, and anti-West threats made by the Iranian military.
SUPPORT ADVOCATES OF REFORM IN THE MIDDLE EAST: MEMRI's Reform Project monitors advocates of reform in the Arab and Muslim world and the obstacles they face in advancing their cause. Its goal is to provide reformists with a platform from which they can reach out to their societies and to religious, political, and educational leaders, while also providing Western policy makers with a solid basis for long-term strategic plans aimed at supporting this effort. MEMRI has provided a platform for activists in areas including: social reform and civil society; reform in state education and political systems; women's rights; the impact of Arab reformists in their own countries; pro-reform conferences and petitions; and criticism of extremist mainstream Muslim clerics. This project promotes many of the most influential liberal and progressive activists, thinkers, poets, authors, and bloggers in the Arab and Muslim world. Some have been imprisoned by their countries' governments; others have survived assassination attempts or live under the threat of religious decrees (fatwas) calling for their deaths. Influenced by the U.S. civil rights movement, they have spoken out for freedom, democracy, and women's and human rights.
Stopping Palestinian INCITEMENT AND CHILD Indoctrination: Since MEMRI's inception, we have monitored, translated, and analyzed material from the Palestinian media, Palestinian sermons, and the Palestinian educational system, all of which indoctrinate children to hatred. We have released groundbreaking reports on Palestinian curricula. In addition, MEMRI TV has extensive archives on Palestinian children's programming inciting to violence, hatred, and martyrdom. MEMRI research in this area is relied upon by Western media, legislatures, and governments.
EXPOSING ANTISEMITISM IN THE MIDDLE EAST: Antisemitism in the Arab world and Iran has evolved rapidly in recent years from various sources: Islamic origins that go so far as to call for killing Jews in sermons and in the media; European libels and stereotypes; and Nazi propaganda. MEMRI's Antisemitism Documentation Project documents antisemitic themes in Arabic, Farsi, and Turkish newspaper reports, editorials, and other media sources. This project, which consists of thousands of pages of translations and hundreds of hours of footage from the MEMRI TV Project, maintains the largest archive in the world of translated Arabic, Farsi and Turkish material on antisemitism from the past decade.
