On August 3, 2011, Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) released a video documenting the group's operations in northern Algeria as well as in the Sahara desert. The video also includes a number of AQIM mujahideen speaking about the Arab revolutions and the Algerian regime and its collaboration with the West, and appealing to Algerian soldiers to stop supporting the Algerian regime.
The video, which was posted online as a gift for the month of Ramadan, is titled "Enter Upon Them by the Gate, You Shall Surely be Victorious," a phrase from Koran 5:23. The video was released in two parts: Part I, 59:48 in duration, and Part II, 45:51 in duration.
Part I has two main sections: The first includes clips from media coverage of the Arab uprisings, and is narrated by AQIM leader Abu Mus'ab 'Abd Al-Wadoud. It also includes a speech by AQIM military council member Abu Saif Al-Awrasi, and features Al-Qaeda leader Ayman Al-Zawahiri talking about the recent events that led to the breaking of the shackles of fear. Al-Zawahiri also adds that oppression should be faced with resistance, and resistance naturally includes sacrifices....
