In an article in the Syrian government daily Al-Thawra, columnist Dr. Sayyah 'Azzam expresses support for Holocaust deniers and agrees with claims that it is impossible that six million Jews were killed in the Holocaust, and that there were no gas chambers or crematoria. He says that "Zionism" exploited some events during the Nazi era in Germany in order to establish a Jewish state.
Following are excerpts from the article:[1]
"The U.N. General Assembly set January 27 as the international day commemorating the so-called Holocaust... thus spurring the countries of the world to revive this memory in order to prevent future generations from again perpetrating collective extermination...
"There is no choice but to point out the many reservations [that some have] regarding the Holocaust, particularly vis-à-vis recognizing it as a unique and unprecedented catastrophe. The truth is that collective extermination was perpetrated [also] against the Indians, across the U.S.
"On the other hand, there are those who deny the Holocaust. The first published book on Holocaust denial was Absolute Rule[2] by American jurist Frances Parker Yockey, who in 1946 was assigned to reexamine the Nuremburg trials. In his work, he expressed his bitterness at what he called the unfairness in the courtroom deliberations – which led to his removal from his post after a few months!
"After this book [was published], the well-known historian Harry Elmer Barnes, of Columbia University, cast doubt regarding the historical truth of the Holocaust; after him came James Martin and Willis Carto, also Americans... British and Canadian researchers and lecturers also denied this Holocaust...
"These are the main arguments raised by this stream that denies the Holocaust:
"1) The extermination of six million Jews, as claimed by the Zionists, is an inflated statistic, because based on the statistics in Europe prior to World War II, the total number of Jews was 6.5 million. This would mean that nearly all the Jews were exterminated in the Holocaust. Statistics from European immigration departments contradict this; they indicate that 1.5 million Jews immigrated to Sweden, Spain, China, India, Palestine, and the U.S. between 1933 and 1945... Historians note that the total number of Jews in the world in 1938 was 16.5 million, and that 10 years later it was 18.5 million. If we assume, for the sake of argument, that six million Jews did indeed die in the Holocaust, then it is inconceivable that the remaining 10 million multiplied in a way so contrary to the laws of statistics and of human propagation...
"2) There isn't a single official document noting the details of the Holocaust operation [to verify] the Zionist claims.
"3) The extensive media [coverage] of the [many] detention camps and death camps has no basis in truth. These camps were intensive production units aimed at supporting the [German] war machine. [Likewise,] there is no truthful basis for [the tales about] the so-called 'gas chambers' – where they put Jews by the thousands in order to poison them. On the contrary; these were small rooms for manufacturing agricultural pesticides. There were several crematoria, [but] these were aimed at burning the corpses of people who died of typhoid as a result of lack of medical services.
"4) Many photos displayed in the world and also in the Nuremburg trails, taken from the German archive itself, [are photos in which the] Germans tried to show the scope of the spread of starvation and typhoid in Germany during the war. Many photos presented [to prove] that there was mass extermination of Jews were, in fact, [photos] of the worst attack by Allied aircraft, on Dresden, Germany, February 13-15, 1945, during which 9,000 tons of bombs were dropped on the city, and 24,866 out of [the city's] 28,410 buildings were destroyed – including a large number of hospitals, churches, schools, banks, and hotels.
"From these and other points, it emerges that global Zionism used some of what happened to the Jews in Germany during the Nazi era as a means of plundering the countries of Europe... and emotionally [extorting] the world, in order to establish a state for the Jews in Palestine. It is also clear that there is great, illogical exaggeration in several aspects of what has been published about the victims of the so-called 'Holocaust' and the means used against the Jews..."
