On December 12, 2024, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs published a report of the meeting in Beijing between Chinese President Xi Jinping with former Russian president and current chairman of the country's United Russia Party Dmitry Medvedev. During the meeting, delivered a signed letter to Xi from Russian President Vladimir Putin and expressed his delight at visiting China again on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and China. Medvedev also said that the current high-level cooperation between Russia and China is the result of the joint guidance and promotion by President Putin and President Xi.
Commenting on the meeting, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) mouthpiece Global Times noted that Medvedev's visit to China takes place amid "many key changes around the world," including "the upcoming inauguration of Donald Trump, the Russia-Ukraine conflict, as well as the recent major change in the Middle East, including the situation in Syria." Zhang Hong, a research fellow at the Institute of Russian, Eastern European, and Central Asian Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, told the Global Times that Medvedev's trip aims to "boost mutual trust between the two countries, promote inter-party cooperation, and also enhance coordination with China on global and regional hot spot issues."[1]

"On December 12, 2024, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and President Xi Jinping met with Chairman of the United Russia Party of Russia Dmitry Medvedev at the Great Hall of the People.
"Xi Jinping said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia 75 years ago, the two countries have blazed a new path featuring mutual respect, harmonious coexistence and win-win cooperation between major and neighboring countries, setting an example of a new type of international relations as well as relations between major neighboring countries.
"China is ready to work with Russia to strengthen the synergy of development strategies, tap the internal momentum of bilateral cooperation, and continuously bring benefits to the two countries and two peoples. China and Russia should strengthen communication and coordination within such multilateral frameworks as the United Nations (UN), the BRICS cooperation mechanism and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, firmly uphold the international system with the UN at its core, and practice true multilateralism, so as to make the international order more just and equitable and jointly safeguard global strategic stability and international fairness and justice.

"Cooperation Between The United Russia Party And The CPC Bear Special Responsibilities In The Relations Between Russia And China"
"Dmitry Medvedev delivered a signed letter to President Xi Jinping from President Vladimir Putin, and expressed his delight at visiting China again on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and China.
