On #GivingTuesday, MEMRI NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT – Please Donate Today

Special Announcements No. 1569

On #GivingTuesday – our nation's annual day of generosity when we Americans recommit, through volunteering and charity, to causes important to us – many Americans choose to support organizations that assist in U.S. defense and security and that provide insight and clarity on issues that are critical in these tumultuous times.

While we recognize that you receive many end-of-year requests for support from nonprofit organizations, we would like to present our case for why we deserve your support in these difficult times.

During this past year of escalating war, MEMRI teams – at MEMRI headquarters in Washington, D.C. and around the world – have been working every day, around the clock, to bring you up-to-the minute translations from primary source materials as well as our original analysis. Our work is read and viewed by a massive audience.

This year, we have published an unprecedented number – thousands – of reports, clips, and analysis pieces. A major focus of these is on the terrorist organizations involved in the war in the region as well as on their masters, Iran and Qatar. These include statements by terrorist leaders and officials; reporting and opinions from the Arab media; original analysis of trends in the region; rereleases from the MEMRI and MEMRI TV archives of reports, prescient analysis, and clips that are relevant to what is happening today; up-to-the-minute items from the MEMRI Jihad and Terrorism Threat Monitor (JTTM), and more. Another area of focus is extremist sermons in mosques and Islamic centers in the U.S. and the West that promote antisemitism, homophobia, and other forms of intolerance and incite to jihad and violence. During this time, we have sent out over 1,130 emails of our research to our subscribers.

MEMRI research, with its significant intelligence value, is filling a major void, including for the governments and militaries that use it. As we conclude our 25th year, we are again proving that we are on the cutting edge in this field.

As one of the world's most productive nonprofit think tanks focusing on the Arab and Muslim world, and on threats from it to the U.S. and the West, MEMRI's research output equals or surpasses that of similar organizations many times our size with many times our budget.

EXPOSING STATEMENTS BY HAMAS, HIZBULLAH, IRANIAN, AND OTHER TERROR ORGANIZATIONS

Every day, MEMRI is translating statements by top Hamas, Hizbullah, Houthi, Iranian, and other officials, exposing their words to the West – and these MEMRI translations, from print, broadcast, and online media, are used by the U.S. and other Western governments and cited by media around the world.

MONITORING IRAN, IRAN-BACKED SHI'ITE MILITIAS, ARAB MEDIA, IMAMS, AND JIHADIS IN THE WEST

IRAN: Statements by Iranian leaders warning of preparations for attacks on U.S. and other Western officials – including President-Elect Donald Trump – as well as U.S. sites and interests; boasts of advancements in Iran's nuclear and ballistic missile programs and Iranian provision of drones to Russia for use against Ukraine; and more.

IRAN'S PROXIES IN THE REGION: In addition to Hizbullah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen, the Iran-backed Shi'ite militias in Iraq, and others are threatening and targeting U.S., Western, and Jewish sites, including with drone attacks.

ARAB MEDIA: Monitoring what Arab media are saying about the war in the region, including reformists' denunciations of the terror organizations and Iran.

SERMONS BY IMAMS IN THE WEST: Highlighting imams in mosques and Islamic centers in the U.S. and other Western countries inciting to jihad and preaching antisemitism and homophobia.

JTTM REPORTS: Including statements celebrating Hamas and threats against U.S., Western, and Jewish targets from Al-Qaeda, ISIS, and other jihadi organizations around the world.

In these difficult days of escalating and expanding war, MEMRI continues, as it has for over a quarter of a century, to "bridge the language gap," providing governments, legislatures, law enforcement bodies, and academia, in the U.S. and across the West, with our research. Our translations, reports, and analysis of important developments in the region are published days before they appear in media elsewhere – if they ever do.

MEMRI staff – researchers, translators, editors, and technical and distribution teams – are working around the clock every single day. The work we are doing is exacting and exhausting, and producing this research is very costly. There is much to do, and we can only cover so much.
