As a reader of MEMRI, you know that for over 23 years we have been meeting the constantly growing challenge of bridging the language gap between the West and the Arab and Muslim world, from North Africa to Afghanistan, including Iran and Turkey, as well as Russia and, since last year, China. You know about our vital research, translations from primary sources, and original analysis.
We maintain constant contact with, and work together with, the U.S. government and authorities worldwide, alerting them to threats and sharing our research, translations, and expertise on new trends and upsurges in jihadi terrorist, domestic terrorist, neo-Nazi, and antisemitic activity online. No one else is doing the work that we are doing supporting law enforcement agencies worldwide. And we need your help at the end of our fiscal year in order to meet our annual fundraising goals.
During the recent Gaza conflict, MEMRI researchers and translators worked around the clock, monitoring not only what all the terrorist groups involved were saying but also tracking statements by Palestinian and Iranian officials, jihadis, and others across the Arab and Muslim world, in print, online, and broadcast media, including social media. Further, with the possibility of a new flareup by Hamas, we will again be working again around the clock to monitor and translate content by the same actors.
Between May 10 and May 25, our teams published vast amounts of research that no other organization comes close to producing, including:
-
28 MEMRI TV clips, which were viewed millions of times online
-
48 Jihad and Terrorism Threat Monitor (JTTM) reports
-
16 Special Dispatch translations and Inquiry and Analysis reports
-
33 emails of research sent out to readers like you.
EXPOSING TERRORIST INCITEMENT OF PALESTINIANS
We exposed Hamas and other Palestinian jihadi groups, from both Gaza and the Palestinian Authority, inciting their populations – for example, a senior Hamas official's appeal to Jerusalem residents to buy cheap knives and "cut off the heads of Jews," complete with a demonstration.
We showed Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades calling for a "general mobilization" to "defend our people in revolt in our eternal capital Jerusalem and in the persistent Gaza and [West] Bank, Lod, Haifa, Yafa, and Nazareth and all of Palestine," in order to make life "an unbearable hell" for Israelis.
EXPOSING IRANIAN OFFICIALS BOASTING OF YEARS OF IRANIAN MILITARY AID AND SUPPLY OF MISSILES TO PALESTINIAN TERRORIST
We published clips and reports of top Iranian officials discussing and boasting about the funding, weapons, rockets, missiles, tunnels, and training provided by the Iranian regime to Gaza, both recently and, in the words of one top Iranian commander, "around the clock for years."
EXPOSING HAMAS AND OTHER PALESTINIAN TERROR GROUPS THANKING IRAN FOR WEAPONS, FUNDING, AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT
We showed Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and other Gaza terrorist leaders thanking Iran, its IRGC, and IRGC Qods Force commander Qassem Soleimani for the ongoing support to them in the form of "weapons, money, and food," and for funds sent just last week to assist in rearmament efforts.
We also showed Hizbullah officials discussing coordination with Hamas by their organization and by Iran.
EXPOSING SUPPORT FOR PALESTINIANS BY ISIS, AL-QAEDA, TALIBAN AND DOZENS OF OTHER JIHADI TERROR GROUPS
During the conflict, we published reports on the support expressed by many other terrorist groups for the Palestinian terror groups – from ISIS and Al-Qaeda, including Al-Qaeda's affiliates in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) and the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) to Syrian jihadi groups such as Al-Nujaba, Hay'at Tahrir Al-Sham, Hurras Al-Din, and Tansiqiyat Al-Jihad, Iraq-based Iran-backed jihadi groups including the Hizbullah Brigades; the Yemeni Ansar Allah (Houthis); and both the Pakistani and Afghan Taliban.
EXPOSING IMAMS IN THE U.S. AND WEST INCITING MUSLIMS AGAINST ISRAEL AND JEWS
We also released clips of recent imams' sermons in the U.S., Canada, and elsewhere during the conflict inciting members of their mosques to hatred of Israel and Jews.
Miami imam Dr. Fadi Yousef Kablawi told worshipers that the Muslims will retake Palestine. California Imam Salim Ammar Mohamed said that the Israelis' "criminal activity" in the conflict is rooted in the Jews' "distorted" religious texts, and Canadian imam Younus Kathrada said that the Muslim enmity against the Jews is just and logical because they do not believe in Allah, and appealed to Allah to destroy His enemies.
We also released clips of antisemitic statements in the West during and in the aftermath of the conflict – for example, protestors calling for Muslim armies to wage jihad and wipe out the "Zionist entity," and similar statements.
PLEASE SUPPORT MEMRI TODAY – HELP US CONTINUE OUR WORK
Producing our research and translations and providing them at no charge is a costly enterprise. It is only through your help that we can continue our vital work of exposing jihad and terrorism in the Middle East and worldwide. No other organization is doing the work that MEMRI does. But we need your help to continue. We are very grateful to those of our valued readers who have already donated this year, and ask those who have not yet done so to please consider making a tax-deductible donation now. There is so much more we can do with more resources.
Sincerely,
