Second Audio Message from Bin Laden on Topic of Pakistan Floods
On October 2, 2010, Al-Qaeda's media production company Al-Sahab posted an audio message by Osama bin Laden on the Internet. This was the second message from Bin Laden in as many days, and dealt with much the same issues as the previous recording. In the message, titled "Save your brothers in Pakistan", the leader of Al-Qaeda discussed the floods which struck that country and caused great damage and called upon the Islamic nation to improve their relief effort. After describing the great number of casualties and victims brought on by this disaster, he expressed his disappointment with the disproportion between the scale of the disaster and the scale of the humanitarian aid which was received, especially from those Muslim countries capable of doing more such as Turkey, Malaysia and the Gulf states.

Adam Gadahn: "Muslim brothers and sisters everywhere, peace be upon you. This year, millions of Muslims in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and neighboring countries are spending Ramadhan as homeless or displaced refugees. Some of them are refugees due to the devastating floods resulting from the extraordinarily heavy monsoon rains, while others are refugees from the military operations launched by the Crusader army and its helpers and proxies throughout the region."

Al-Hayat: Al-Zarqawi's Brother In-Law Appointed New Governor Of Diyala
On October 1, 2010, Al-Hayat published a report that the Al-Qaeda-affiliated organization Islamic State of Iraq (ISI) has appointed Sami Al-Daini, Abu Mus'ab Al-Zarqawi brother in-law, as the new wali (governor) of Diyala.

The Tightening Ties between Nigerian Boko Haram and Al-Qaeda
In the past year or so there has been a marked convergence between the radical Nigerian jihadist group popularly known as Boko Haram and the Arab salafi jihadi community. In August 2009, Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) issued a communiqué eulogizing Boko Haram's leader Muhammad Yusuf, who had recently been killed by Nigerian security forces. This symbolic show of support was followed up in early 2010, when, following the interconfessional bloodshed in Jos, AQIM urged Nigerian Muslims to wage war against the "Crusader [i.e. Christian] minority," and stated: "We are prepared to provide weapons training to your sons and to provide them with whatever support we can – men, arms, ammunition, and supplies – in order to enable you to defend our people in Nigeria and to repel the wrongs of the Crusader minority." AQIM itself has at least one Nigerian in its ranks; at a two-day jihad seminar held by the organization in the Sahara, a certain "Abu Mihjan the Nigerian" delivered a lecture in the Hausa language.
