The Middle East is in turmoil, and extremism in the U.S. and West continues to be a daily threat. MEMRI's dedicated research teams work around the clock in defense of the U.S. and Israel, seven days a week, 365 days a year, monitoring and translating, documenting its cutting-edge research and providing it to readers like you. Carrying out this work is resource intensive – we need your help today. Your tax-deductible gift supports all of our vital work.
MEMRI research focuses on the most recent and most critical events and developments in the Arab and Muslim world, as well as in Russia and China, via their media – because these have ramifications for U.S. security and the welfare of U.S. citizens. Our research assists and benefits governments, legislatures, media, and academia worldwide. We provide key content, primary source translations, original analysis, alerts, and real-time threat information, and awareness of the developing of risks in their early stages, to U.S. federal and state agencies and legislators, as well as to governments throughout the West. No other organization does the work that we are doing.
YOUR TAX-DEDUCTIBLE DONATION SUPPORTS MEMRI RESEARCH INTO 2025
Since MEMRI's establishment over 27 years ago, we have remained one of the world's most productive nonprofit think tanks focusing on the Middle East and South Asia and on threats from these regions to the U.S. and the West. Our research output equals or surpasses that of similar organizations many times our size with many times our budget. In the past decade, not one day has passed without new MEMRI research being posted on our website and sent out in emails to hundreds of thousands of subscribers. With its significant intelligence value, MEMRI research is filling a major void. In our 27th year, we again prove that we are leaders in this field.
But during this extremely eventful time, our research and translation teams are feeling the strain. There is so much more of this primary source material that MEMRI needs to monitor, translate, and distribute, and we are understaffed due to the ongoing war. We are appealing to you, our donors, to help us acquire the staff that we need to monitor and translate more primary source content and distribute it to governments, legislatures, media, and you, our readers.
Developments we are closely monitoring, with a focus on statements by governments, terrorist and rebel groups, and their leaders, include:
-
The new Syrian government under Ahmed Al-Sharaa and whether its move away from jihad is genuine, following its announcement of an Islamist constitution and the massacre of members of the Alawite and Christian minorities;
-
Turkey's expansion of its influence in the region, including its alliances with Syria and Qatar;
-
President Trump's unprecedented plan for Gaza, triggering outrage along with alternative plans;
-
The increase of the Qatari-Muslim Brotherhood threat, as Qatar successfully positions itself as an "honest broker," with acceptance and support in the U.S., and continues to conceal its true nature;
-
The Iran nuclear threat – according to the International Atomic Energy Agency last month, Iran is rapidly accelerating its production of near weapons-grade uranium;
-
The spread of jihadism and threat of attacks in the U.S. and Canada, as the U.S. engages in putting a stop to the Houthi attacks on shipping in the Red Sea, and as more lone-wolf attacks are thwarted;
-
Hizbullah's attempts to regroup and rearm in Lebanon, as the Lebanese government seeks to curtail illicit financing for the organization through its banking system.
At MEMRI, we continue to "bridge the language gap," monitoring and translating from the media of the region, publishing original analysis, and showing what is really happening like no other organization can. We are appealing to you, a reader and donor, because you are aware of our vital work. Your donation will support projects including these:
-
MEMRI TV – The MEMRI TV project scours hundreds of channels and online broadcasting outlets – Arab, Iranian, Urdu, Turkish, Russian, and Chinese – for relevant, important content to record, translate, subtitle, and publish. To date, MEMRI TV clips, numbering nearly 12,000, have had over 350 million views across the web.
-
Monitoring Sermons By Imams And Islamist Organizations in the West – MEMRI TV is working 24/7 to monitor and expose antisemitism, jihadism, and support for designated terror organizations emanating from mosques, Islamic centers, Islamist organizations, and rallies across the country. The project also monitors appeals for tolerance, acceptance, and coexistence from these sources.
-
Lantos Archives on Antisemitism and Holocaust Denial – Named after the late honorable Congressman and Holocaust survivor Tom Lantos, this project exposes Muslim antisemitism in the Arab and Muslim world and the West, and also monitors online propaganda, incitement, threats, and recruitment activity by violent neo-Nazi groups and individuals. It maintains the world's largest archives on these subjects.
-
Jihad and Terrorism Threat Monitor (JTTM) Project – Monitoring, translating, and analyzing content online by jihadi organizations and individuals, with a focus on their outreach, expansion, recruitment, indoctrination, social media, and fundraising.
-
Reform Project – Translating media and other primary source content to highlight and amplify the voices of reformists and liberals who support reform, democracy, equality, and human rights.
Our linguists and analysts – experts in the field – have been exposing extremism, antisemitism, and jihadi threats for over a quarter of a century. We are asking you today to help us continue our essential and unique work. We cannot do this without you.
With gratitude,
