As a long-time reader and previous donor, you already know the vital importance of our work. If you have already donated to our Summer 2021 Campaign, we would like to express our thanks. If you have not, today we are asking for your renewed support of our groundbreaking projects and initiatives. Please donate to our Summer 2021 fundraising campaign so that we can continue to publish our research, translations, and analysis from the Middle East/South Asia, Russia, China, and the West.

HELP US CONTINUE TO FOCUS ON RECENT DEVELOPMENTS AND PUBLISH KEY RESEARCH

MEMRI research continues to focus on the most recent developments in the Arab and Muslim world, providing primary source translations and original analysis to U.S. and international governments, counterterrorism officials, law enforcement, militaries, and other authorities to tackle threats and prevent terror attacks. We work with media to inform their understanding of the complexities of issues and developments in the Middle East and South Asia, Russia, and China, and serve as a valuable resource for academia worldwide – over 700 universities across the globe.

As Afghanistan is taken over by the Taliban (see below extensive list of new MEMRI research on Afghanistan, the Taliban takeover, and the Kabul airport attack) and as Iran continues to fund weapons and training for Hamas and Hizbullah to attack Israel from the south and the north, MEMRI is focusing on these issues, publishing research every day. We are also focusing on assisting federal and state agencies with threats and information that we identify in our monitoring of neo-Nazi, white supremacist, antisemitic, and jihadi online activity.

THE U.S. GOVERMENT IS NOW STRESSING THE TREMENDOUS NEED FOR TRANSLATIONS AND ANALYSIS OF RUSSIAN AND CHINESE

As it did 20 years ago after 9/11, the U.S. government is again beginning to address the tremendous need for reliable translations, especially from Russian and Chinese. Last month, Rep. Joaquin Castro of Texas introduced a bipartisan bill to create a federally funded China and Russia translation and analysis center, saying that in order to "compete and cooperate" with China and Russia, there must be "a better understanding of those countries" – and that such an understanding is "impossible without reading how they communicate in their own languages."

About this possible future center, Rep. Mike Gallagher (WI) stressed that in order to "combat the threat posed by the Chinese Communist Party, we have to read and understand CCP primary sources"; Rep. Bill Keating (MA) noted that this understanding is "crucial for the U.S. and our allies to defend the rule of law, democratic societies, and international norms"; and Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (PA) said that the center would "aid our efforts to source and analyze foreign documents and improve communications with countries across the globe.”

This is precisely what MEMRI has been doing every day for the past five years. The MEMRI Russian Media Studies Project (RSMP) and Chinese Media Studies Project (CMSP) are publishing translations, and analysis and available free on MEMRI websites. We are already uniquely positioned to help the federal government with anything it needs.

DURING COVID-19, MEMRI SURPASSES OTHER THINK TANKS

MEMRI's output surpasses that of similar Washington, D.C.-based think tanks whose budgets are many times bigger (view comparison chart here). Even during the worst days of the global pandemic, not a single day passed without new research posted to our website and emails of research sent out to our readers. At this time, many nonprofit organizations are asking for donations – but they aren't doing the work that we are doing.

Join the thousands of loyal MEMRI supporters who donate to help us continue this essential work. We cannot do this without you, and with recent world events and heightened tensions in the region as well as domestically, our work is more crucial than ever. No one else is doing the work that MEMRI does. Our research and analysis are free of charge to the general public, but we need your help to keep them that way.

OUR RESEARCH IS MORE CRUCIAL NOW THAN EVER – DONATE TODAY

Please support MEMRI today; your gift will ensure that our programs and initiatives succeed in 2021 and beyond. The generosity and dedication of donors like you enable us to continue our important work.

Your donation is 100% tax-deductible. You may donate online at www.memri.org/donate, mail a check to MEMRI, P.O. Box 27837, Washington, DC 20038-7837, or call us at 202-955-9070.

In gratitude for your consideration,
