Taliban Statement: Most Islamic Battles, Like the Conquest of Spain, were Fought During Ramadan

A statement issued by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban's shadow government) has stressed that most Islamic battles were waged during the holy month of Ramadan, and that the Taliban "are accelerating their jihadi activities."

On August 3, 2011, the Salafi-jihadi website Minbar Al-Tawhid Wal Jihad (MTJ) published a fatwa in response to a query regarding the beauty of the women in paradise. The query was submitted to the MTJ's sharia committee by a person calling himself Abu Qatada Al-Hollandi ("The Dutchman"), who also expressed his wish to join the mujahideen.

In a recent interview, Ustad Fateh, the central military commander of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) for the Swat district of Pakistan, discussed the beginning of the jihadi movement and how his fighters are facing the Pakistani military operations. In early 2009, the TTP fighters had begun enforcing Islamic shari'a – as a result of a shari'a-for-peace deal with the Pakistani government – in the Malakand Division, which comprises Swat and neighboring districts.

Taliban Commander Azmatullah Mehsud Cites Koranic Verses against Non-Muslims, States: 'The Holy Koran and Islamic System Keep Teaching Revolt Against an Evil System All the Time'

In a recent article, top Taliban commander Azmatullah Mehsud argued that Muslims are in constant struggle against all ways of living and faiths – other than Islam. Citing numerous Koranic verses, the Taliban commander said that the distinction between a Muslim and an infidel is based on belief and principles, not on other factors such as language, race, or nationalism.
