Given below are translations of a report and an interview of former Pakistan Army Chief General Mirza Aslam Beg published in the Urdu-language Pakistani daily Roznama Ummat, accusing the United States and the Pentagon of working on a comprehensive anti-Islam project.
The report, titled "The Obnoxious Plan Against the Islamic World Was Prepared 24 Years Ago," was published on May 13, 2012 by Roznama Ummat and former Pakistan Army Chief General Mirza Aslam Beg's interview, titled "The Rulers of the Islamic World will have to Wake Up Now," was published on May 14, 2012 in the same daily. Roznama Ummat represents the orthodox, pro-Taliban, pro-jihad Muslim opinion in Pakistan.
Also quoted in the report is Lt.-General (retired) Hamid Gul, the former chief of the Pakistani military's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Gul is currently the head of Difa-e-Pakistan Council (DPC of the Defense of Pakistan Council), a coalition of religious parties and banned militant organizations. The DPC was established by Professor Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, the founder of the Pakistani jihadist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba, which is blamed for the November 26, 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.
Following are excerpts from the May 13, 2012 report:[1]
"The Work On The Mental Preparation And Training Against Islam In Institutions Like Homeland Security, Metropolitan Police, FBI, And Others Was Started Just After 9/11"
"The obnoxious plan against the Islamic world was prepared 24 years ago. The Pentagon had approved it in 1988. The education in the U.S. military institutions is part of [a plan aimed at] doing away with 150 million Arab Muslims and [launching an] attack on Mecca and Medina; films on the subject of Muslim genocide are also being shown at the police and FBI training centers – a special report.
"The education and practical training for war against Islam and nuclear attacks on Mecca and Medina are not only part of American Army [training] but also of the training of all security institutions in accordance with the U.S. war strategy; and this process has not started today, but has been continuing since 1988. General [Martin] Dempsey has not suspended it but has postponed it because it has not been powerful on the curricula level.
"[Roznama] Ummat has come to know through its sources and some documents that the preparations for a terrible war against Islam are not only there in the American military, but are also continuing in all the [U.S.] security institutions. According to reports, the U.S. plan for the genocide of Muslims is not new and it has also not been kept in extreme secrecy. The plan that has been continuing since 1988 was not only formally approved by the Pentagon but it was initiated with the signatures [sic] of the then President [Ronald Reagan].
"However, the work on the mental preparation and training against Islam in institutions like Homeland Security, Metropolitan Police, FBI, and others was started just after 9/11, and for that [purpose], special organizations and think tanks were established in the U.S. in which, interestingly, the people of Israel with dual citizenship were essential. Sources have claimed that the Pentagon, the U.S. Defense [Department], the White House and the CIA have been associated with this [plan] since 1988 and now the Pentagon is trying to dissociate itself from it after the details are out."
"At… The Next Stage [Of The Strategy] (Allah Forbid) Islam Would Be Obliterated From The World By Destroying The Harmain [The Holy Mosques of Mecca And Medina]"
"According to a source in Islamabad which have continuous links with the Americans on various issues, General Dempsey has not suspended this program [of teaching U.S. soldiers about Islam] altogether; but his objection was that the syllabus for the army training program was not strong [enough] and it is ridiculous to a certain extent. Therefore, after this objection, the U.S. and Israeli think tanks are discussing the latest syllabus and teaching methodology for this program while it is still being followed in other institutions.
"The central idea behind it is that the seemingly innocuous Muslims in the American mainstream are as dangerous as the jihadis and unless their links with the Koran, Kaaba [the Holy Mosque in Mecca] and Medina are broken, they will not be acceptable to the U.S. and Israel. An intellectual associated with a prominent American think tank told [Roznama] Ummat that the issue of how the Muslims' relations to the Koran and Shariah can be cut off is a matter of continuous debate at American think tanks.
"According to that intellectual, the continuing campaign for the desecration of the Koran and blasphemy against the Prophet [Muhammad] is not different from the U.S. war strategy; rather, it is a psychological weapon which has been initiated in response to the research by these think tanks so that Muslims [would get used to] the continuous desecration of the Koran and [acts of] blasphemy against Prophet Muhammad. And at its next stage (Allah forbid) Islam would be obliterated from the world by destroying the Harmain [the holy mosques of Mecca and Medina]."
Lt.-General Hamid Gul: "I Said From Day One That It Is A Crusade War; Americans Are Fighting It As A Religious War"; "Americans Have Become Fanatic Against Islam And Are Not Ready To Tolerate [The Existence Of] Even Our Koran, Kaaba And Medina"
"And now when the U.S. Pentagon has accepted that it does have a Muslim-genocide plan, a military [affairs] intellectual and head of Difa-e-Pakistan General Hamid Gul [former chief of the Pakistani military's Inter-Services Intelligence, or ISI], speaking to Ummat, stated:
"'I said from day one that it is a Crusade war. Americans are fighting it as a religious war but our viewpoint was not taken seriously. The Muslims who were considering it as a reaction to a Muslim action should now take cognizance of how the Americans have become fanatic against Islam and are not ready to tolerate [the existence of] even our Koran, Kaaba and Medina.
"'I understand that after the U.S. confirmation, there remains no justification that Muslim countries should remain silent. All the Muslim countries should protest against it by calling the U.S. ambassadors in their countries. And Pakistan is the worst victim country of this war; [so] it should convene an OIC [Organization of Islamic Conference] summit to take notice of it and talk to the U.S. in strong words.
"'This is our right. We should speak out on it. It is like suicide if we remained silent when they are denying our existence itself. And those who are American supporters, it is better for them that they should go to the U.S. now.'"
Former Pakistan Army Chief: "Unorganized Muslim Military Powers [i.e. Militant Organizations Like Al-Qaeda] Have Shattered The U.S.'s Claim That The 21st Century Would Be Its Century And That Its World Order Would Be In Vogue"
Following are the excerpts from General Mirza Aslam Beg's interview:[2]
Question: "Why is there so much hatred against the Islamic world in the U.S. that ideas to target Muslims' sacred places are being nourished?"
Mirza Aslam Beg: "When the USSR was defeated by Afghanistan and was disintegrated, the U.S. declared itself the sole superpower. To maintain its hegemony over the whole world, it was necessary [for it] to declare a target. The U.S. chose the Islamic world for this; after that it started a campaign against the Islamic countries. At first, to suppress the Iranian revolution, it got Iran attacked by Iraq.
"Israel was given all sorts of military and economic power to maintain superiority over the Arab world. The same jihadi forces, whose campaign had forced the Russian defeat and devastation, were attacked by the U.S., [which used] the 9/11 incident a pretext. This was an attempt to suppress the Islamic world on ideological and practical levels; and the U.S. still longs for it.
"In addition to this, to inculcate hatred among its troops against Islamic world and Muslims, ... [the U.S.] prepared such a syllabus [for training the troops] in which Muslims were declared terrorists and it was said that Khana-e-Kaaba [the Holy Mosque in Mecca] and Masjid-e-Nabawi [the Holy Mosque in Medina] are sacred place of Muslims from where they get spiritual power; and these sacred places are of great importance to 'terrorists.'
"God forbid, it's like the beginning of a mental preparation to attack Khana-e-Kaaba and Masjid-e-Nabawi, which the U.S. has initiated. But at this juncture, I would like to say this that the unorganized Muslim military powers [i.e. militant organizations such as the Taliban and Al-Qaeda] have shattered the U.S.'s claim that the 21st century would be its century and that its world order would be in vogue. And, by the Grace of Allah, this miracle has occurred due to the auspiciousness of jihad. What happened to Russia is now happening with the U.S. The warring power of Israel, laced with all kinds of [military] fittings, had to face disgrace in Lebanon. The U.S. was disgraced in Iraq. These are the miracles that are happening before us.
"In this condition, Americans are in great tumult and trouble and now they are casting their eyes on our sacred places [i.e. the holy mosques in Mecca and Medina]. In World War II, the U.S. and its Allies had been victorious against a proper and organized army. Now there is no organized military power or force before them. Despite that, the U.S. is facing the worst kind of defeat [in Afghanistan] which they cannot swallow. That is why ... [the U.S.] has started planning against the ideological basis of Islam [by targeting the holy mosques]."
"The Rulers Of The Islamic World Will Have To Wake Up Now; They Have To Think Over The U.S. Educational Curriculum [Targeting Muslims], Which Is Being Taught To The American Soldiers"
Question: "Despite this American mentality, why do most of the Islamic countries want to have close relations with the U.S.?"
Mirza Aslam Beg: "Most of the rulers in the Muslim countries are afraid of their bad deeds and find their safety in being close to the U.S., which is a big mistake. Whatever the U.S. did with Afghanistan, its retribution is being faced by us [Pakistan] or Iran.
"If the Islamic world doesn't get into its senses even at this juncture, then, God forbid, Muslims might face great afflictions. The rulers of Islamic world will have to wake up now. They have to think over the U.S. educational curriculum, which is being taught to the American soldiers."
