A press statement issued by a spokesman of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban's shadow government in the country) claims that recent attacks on the U.S./NATO forces are revenge for the desecration of the Koran and the killing rampage by a U.S. soldier.
The statement says: "The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, as the real representatives of its Muslim nation, solemnly pledged that it shall take revenge... and in doing so shall demonstrate to its people that it is in fact the mujahideen of [the] Islamic Emirate who are the true protectors of their honor, sanctities and freedom." ...
