On August 10, 2019, IRINN TV (Iran) aired a report about a "disavowal of polytheists" ceremony held by Iranian pilgrims at the plains of Arafat in Mecca. During the ceremony, a message from Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was read and the pilgrims chanted: "Death to America! Death to Israel!... America is the enemy of Allah! Israel is the enemy of Allah [and] should be erased from the face of the Earth!" A young boy who was interviewed said that the pilgrimage to Mecca is a religious act as well as a political one, and he declared that he would sacrifice his life for the Leader. The reporter said: "This is the cry of the Islamic nation against the child-killing Zionist regime and [America]." A pilgrim said: "We have gathered here [to] punch America and Israel on the mouth." Ghorbanali Dorri-Nafajabadi, a member of Iran's Expediency Council and the Assembly of Experts, said: "All supporters of the front of truth must stand [united] against the front of heresy, polytheism, hypocrisy, Zionism, arrogance, and reactionism."

Anchor: The cries of "Death to America!" and "Death to Israel!" reverberated at the "disavowal of the polytheists" ceremony held at the plain of Arafat. During the ceremony, the message of the great Leader of the Revolution [Khamenei] was read to the pilgrims visiting the House of Allah.
Reporter: After the reading of the message of the great Leader of the Islamic Revolution, the Islamic nation sought to disavow each and every polytheist.

Reporter: They believe that their hajj will not be complete unless they disavow the polytheists.
Pilgrim: One of our main actions in Mecca is to disavow the polytheists. Unless we disavow the polytheists, our pilgrimage and our actions will not be proper. We have gathered here today in order to punch America and Israel on the mouth.
Young Boy: We have come here by the order of the Leader in order to say "Death to America!" and "Death to Israel!" The pilgrimage is not just religious. It is both religious and political. I will sacrifice my life for the Leader.
Woman: This is one of the foundations of our religion – expressing our allegiance, as well as our disavowal and aversion towards all our enemies. Ultimately, we must come here and shout our slogans in order to let the enemy know of our aversion towards it.

Ghorbanali Dorri-Najafabadi: All the supporters of the front of truth must stand united under the banner of monotheism, of unity, and of obedience to the Leader against the front of heresy, polytheism, hypocrisy, Zionism, arrogance, and reactionism. This is the meaning of the disavowal ceremony.
