Released Fatah Terrorist Ismail Awda: Fatah Has Always Taught Us That Palestine Stretches From The Jordan River To The Mediterranean Sea

Released Fatah terrorist Ismail Awda said in a November 24, 2022 show on Awda TV (Palestinian Authority) that since joining Fatah almost 40 years ago, he has always been taught by the movement and by his comrades that "Palestine was not confined to the 1967 [borders]." He also said that when a fighter has the conviction that this country must be liberated by any means necessary, then prison is just a phase in which he can acquire knowledge and build social ties "on a national level." Awda was released last October after 20 years in prison.

Ismail Awda: "I joined Fatah when I was 14 years old. Today I am 52 years old, so we are talking about 36-37 years in Fatah. I was in Fatah in the First and Second Intifadas. I was in the intelligence services. In the First Intifada, Fatah did not teach me that Palestine was [confined to] the 1967 borders. The ideology of Fatah and its security services, and all the brothers in the security services – especially in the intelligence services, but in all the other agencies as well – did not teach me that Palestine is [confined to] the 1967 [borders].

"In the Second Intifada, the 'Al-Aqsa Intifada,' I never met any Fatah member or official who would say that Palestine is [confined to] the 1967 [borders]. During the Second Intifada, I was teaching in prison. Fatah taught me that Palestine is from the [Mediterranean] Sea to the [Jordan] River. Fatah taught me that Palestine is from the [Mediterranean] Sea to the [Jordan] River.

"When we talk about the 1967 [borders], we mean that the [Palestinian] state is there, but our homeland is in Haifa, Jaffa, Acre, and the Galilee. This is what Fatah taught me. The 1967 [borders] just constitute the [Palestinian] state. When I began teaching during the Al-Aqsa Intifada, and I was part of the Tanzim [militia], we always used to teach our young, our children, that Palestine is from the [Mediterranean] Sea to the [Jordan] River.

"When a man – a fighter – has such absolute conviction that this country must be liberated and that the enemy must be fought using all available means, then prison is just a phase for him – a phase in which he can acquire knowledge, education, and a phase for building social ties on a national level."
