In a Friday sermon in Tehran, on January 30, 2015, Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati said that the Saudi king was "very hostile" toward the Shiites and that he "got what he deserved."
Following are excerpts from the sermon, which was broadcast on Iranian Channel 1.
Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati: The death of the Saudi ruler, who was very hostile toward the Shiites... He was very hostile. He supported the takfirists. He founded them. They wrote so many books and vilified the Shiites so much. They leveled accusations against them, slandered them, and told lies about them. He got what he deserved. Now he is getting what he deserves.
Condolences should be extended to the Israelis and Americans, who supported him and often ate at his table. Condolences should be extended to them, and congratulations should be extended to the Muslims and people who care about the Shiites.
