During an August 14 Friday sermon delivered during a visit to Tehran, Deputy Secretary-General of Hizbullah Sheikh Naim Qassem stated that the organization has pledged allegiance to Imam Khomeini. Sheikh Qassem told the Iranian audience that "all the victories you are seeing in Lebanon and the region" stem from Hizbullah's commitment to the authority of the "Jurisprudent Ruler, Imam Khamenei."

Naim Qassem: Hizbullah has believed in Islam, and pledged allegiance to Imam Khomeini... Through this great man and his pioneering erudition, Hizbullah has learned how to reach happiness in our lives, and how to reach a complete understanding of Islam.
