Kuwaiti researcher Dr. Fahd Al-Shelaimi posted a video on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, on November 11, 2023 saying that Hamas leaders should stand trial for causing the death of people in Gaza. He said the Hamas leader go down into the tunnels as soon as the bombings begin, but they say that the people whose death they caused died as martyrs. Al-Shelaimi asked: "Who gets to decide who will die as a martyr?" He asked how come Hamas leaders don't focus on providing education and taking care of the people, and he asked: "Why don't they bring their own children and families if this is martyrdom?". Al-Shelaimi said: "All the blood, dead children, and demolished homes are on Haniyeh and his entourage."

Dr. Fahd Al-Shelaimi: "Benjamin Netanyahu has been placed on trial by the Israeli people. His government is standing trial by the Israeli people. Who will put the leaders of Hamas on trial if it turns out they have made a mistake? 10,000 or 12,000 victims, 30,000 are injured or missing, so far.

"What has been achieved [by Hamas]? Their only achievement is terrorizing people into keeping silent on social media. That's it. Their other excuse is to say that the people who are being killed – all the men, women, and children who have been killed because of them... In order to avoid any accountability, they say that they died as martyrs. Who gets to decide who will die as a martyr?

"Shouldn't their focus be on providing education and taking care of these people, rather than making such reckless decisions? Those who killed the [people of Gaza] and call them 'martyrs' go down to the tunnels as soon as the bombing begins. The very same people who killed them and call them 'martyrs' go to the tunnels as soon as the bombing begins. They fire their rockets from basements without going out, and then just wait.

"Why wouldn't they be the ones to die as martyrs? Why don't they bring their own children and families if this is martyrdom? Why don't they die as martyrs? Why should regular people die, and have their homes destroyed with them inside? You see the distortion?

"The leaders of Hamas must stand trial, for the sin they committed against the Palestinian people. They started by declaring that they would liberate the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and now they are crying for a ceasefire and promise to release the hostages. You call this a victory? They are deceiving the Arabs. So their leaders should stand trial. But who will place them on trial? Will Mahmoud Abbas place them on trial? They rebelled against him. Will Iran place them on trial? Iran is happy about what is going on. They will face the trial of Allah. All the blood, all the dead children, and demolished homes are on Haniyeh and his entourage."
