In a series of tweets on April 8, 2023, former Afghan intelligence chief Rahmatullah Nabil said that the Taliban acquired access to some intelligence systems and are now using them to locate and target their opponents.[1] He said that the Taliban gained access to the logs of incoming international SMS messages, which allows them to see confirmation codes for social media platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram, Twitter, etc. Nabil said that Pakistan and China helped the Taliban gain access to these intelligence systems.
