On June 9, 2021 the pro-Hamas Gaza-based news agency "Gaza Now" posted a message on its Telegram channel[1] soliciting donations for Hamas' military wing, the 'Izz Al-Din Al-Qassam Brigades. The message provided a contact email for this purpose[2] – the same one used by the Brigades themselves to solicit donations in Bitcoins.[3]
Gaza Now is available on Facebook, where it has over 3 million followes,[4] as well as on Instagram,[5] Twitter[6] and Telegram,[7] and also operates a website.[8] The call for donations appeared only on its Telegram channel. The agency fundraises for its own activity using a Paypal account.[9]
