Hackers Break Into Twitter, Facebook Accounts Of London-Based Arabic News Website Elaph.com

On February 7, 2018, Arabnews.com reported that hackers had posted a fake apology on the Facebook and Twitter accounts of the London-based Arabic news service Elaph.com, following Elaph's publication of an article about Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Al-Hariri. The article had speculated that Al-Hariri was leaning toward Turkey while distancing himself from Saudi Arabia. Elaph founder Othman Al-Omeir said that the news outlet had also repelled a sustained attempt to hack the website itself.
