On November 13, 2019, the official Hay'at Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS) Ebaa' News Agency published an editorial by HTS jurist Yahya bin Taher Al-Farghali discussing what he dubbed a "media battle" and the importance of having "independent" media." He notes that Facebook, Twitter, and Telegram are social media platforms owned by the "enemies" who allow Muslims to use them to achieve their goals. He further highlights that media is a "dangerous weapon that should not be left at the hands of the enemies of the religion." Al-Farghali also called for resolving this issue until "we would develop our own satellites which could broadcast our own TV channels."
