On Instagram, accounts in Turkish and Azeri promote the Islamic State (ISIS) and jihad in general by sharing videos, photos, and graphics. Azeri, a language spoken in Azerbaijan and in northwest Iran, and Turkish are closely related and mutually intelligible. The accounts post content featuring prominent jihadi leaders. One user prayed for the men who attacked the offices of satirical French weekly Charlie Hebdo in January 2015, while several accounts quote an ISIS slogan.
