La France Insoumise is a radical left-wing political party in France. It was launched in 2016 by Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who heads it to this day, with its current president Mathilde Panot. The party has been criticized on several occasions for antisemitism, mainly because of the positions held by such members as pro-Hamas Rima Hassan or Sebastien Delogu. French Syria-born Rima Hassan has been criticized for using her mandate as a European deputy to support Hamas, which is listed as a terrorist organization in France: nearly a hundred French senators from the right and the center have called for her parliamentary immunity to be lifted in the wake of her comments justifying Hamas.
On March 11, La France Insoumise (LFI) shared on its website a call to demonstrate “against racism” on March 22 throughout France. The demonstration call is headlined: “On March 22, let’s demonstrate against racism and fascism!”
In addition to the official announcement on its website, LFI has also circulated posters promoting the demonstration. The party called on its social media platforms to demonstrate "against the far right, its ideas, and its supporters," using a poster that demonized Jewish TV anchor Cyril Hanouna, represented as a symbol of the evil “far right,” in a manner reminiscent of Nazi antisemitic caricatures.
